co-tutelle thesis
It is possible to prepare a thesis under joint supervision with a foreign higher education institution. Pour cela, une cotutelle agreement agreement must be drawn up and signed between the two partner institutions.
In the case of a cotutelle thesis, research work alternates between the two establishments.

During the thesis and up to the defense :
- the doctoral student registers at both institutions.
- the doctoral student pays registration fees at only one establishment.
- the doctoral student spends research periods alternately at both institutions.
- the doctoral student is supervised scientifically by a thesis director at each establishment.
After the one-off defense, the doctoral student obtains the doctoral degree from Université Grenoble Alpes and the cotutelle partner institution.
