Thesis on articles :
The dissertation can be written in the classic form, or it can be based on scientific articles written during the dissertation: the article-based dissertation. If you opt for this type of thesis, it's up to you to follow the recommendations set out in this document, and to discuss with your supervisor whether this is the best format for you. It's also important to make sure that the rapporteurs are comfortable with this format, and to let them know when choosing the jury.
DEFENSE PROCEDURE
> You must declare your request to defend a thesis at least 10 weeks**  before the date of the defense on your personal ADUM space (except during the summer > see the red box at the top of the page).
IMPORTANT: Doctoral students who defend their thesis between September 1 and December 31 do not have to re-register* (no CSI either).
However, if you defend your thesis on or after January 1, you will need to organize a new CSI and submit your report on ADUM.
IMPORTANT :
> *Article 5 of the decree of April 19, 2019 on registration fees in public higher education establishments under the authority of the MES allows doctoral students who postpone the defense of their thesis after the start of a new academic year (November 1 to December 31), to consider that they are still covered by the administrative registration made for the previous year.
> ** At this stage, if your manuscript has not yet been finalized, you can submit it as is (or submit a simple blank page) in order to start the Adum procedure. On the other hand, the finalized thesis must be submitted to ADUM between 10 and 8 weeks before the date of your defense, as this version will be sent to the rapporteurs and jury members at D-8 weeks.
> No later than 3 months after the defense, you must submit the final version of your thesis manuscript, in accordance with any corrections requested by the jury.
> When the manuscript is written in English, we ask you to include an extended abstract (with figures if necessary) of 5 to 10 pages, in French, in the final version of the thesis. This summary is compulsory..
> Before you can defend your thesis, you must have completed 120 hours of doctoral training, including the compulsory 'Research Ethics' course..
> the ADUM application does not allow you to declare more than 2 guests at the thesis defense. This is a software limitation independent of the I-MEP² Doctoral School.
> After your defense, if you would like to receive a certificate of completion and graduation, please contact the doctoral college's schooling department : scol-sts@univ-grenoble-alpes.fr
